Independence
No brand, retailer, or affiliate network can pay to appear on this site, to rank higher in a roundup, to receive a better Chill Score, or to have a criticism removed or softened. We do not accept sponsored posts, paid guest posts, or paid link placements.
Commission rates differ between retailers and between products. We do not let that difference influence a ranking. If two products are close and one pays us more, that is not a reason to prefer it, and we will say when a decision was close.
When a manufacturer supplies us with information, we treat it as a source to be checked, not as a fact.
Sourcing and accuracy
Every specification, figure, and claim on this site must be traceable to a source. We do not estimate a wattage, invent a warranty term, or round a measurement in a flattering direction.
When a figure comes from the manufacturer rather than an independent body, we label it as manufacturer rated. This applies particularly to irradiance figures for red light devices, EMF claims for infrared products, and stall force figures for percussion tools, all of which are commonly published without a stated measurement method.
Where we can calculate rather than cite, we show the basis for the calculation, including the electricity rate used and the date it was current.
How articles are produced
Every article starts from primary sources: the manufacturer specification sheet, the installation manual, the warranty document where one exists, and the retailer listing. We build the comparison from what those documents actually state, not from what the marketing copy around them says.
What matters is what happens after the draft. Before anything is published, every specification, model number and figure is checked against the source listing or the manufacturer page it came from, and anything that cannot be traced to a source is removed rather than softened. Health claims made in product marketing are stripped out at this stage as a matter of course, and a draft that has not been through that checking step does not go live.
We publish at a deliberate pace for the same reason. Volume is not the goal, and an article that adds nothing to what is already available should not exist.

Balance
Every product we cover gets both its strengths and its drawbacks stated. Every buying guide names who should not buy the product or the category, whether that is someone without the electrical service a cabin needs, someone who will not keep up with water care on a plunge, or someone for whom a cheaper option would do the same job.
A roundup in which every product is excellent is an advertisement, and we treat it as a failure of the process.
Health and safety content
This category touches health, electrical safety, and cold water immersion. We hold ourselves to tighter rules here.
- We do not give medical advice, diagnose, or recommend protocols, durations, or temperatures as though they were clinical guidance.
- We do not claim that any product detoxifies, cures, heals, burns calories, raises testosterone, boosts immunity, or reduces inflammation, and we do not repeat those claims from a brand as if they were established.
- A health benefit is mentioned only with a citation to published peer reviewed research, phrased with appropriate caution, and with the limits of that research stated.
- For devices the FDA regulates, we distinguish clearance from approval and name the specific indication a device was cleared for. We do not write that a red light device is FDA approved.
- Safety warnings relevant to the product type appear in the article itself, not only in a footer.

Images and product data
Product images and specification data displayed on this site are collected from retailer listings and manufacturer pages and may be out of date. Prices change constantly, so we do not publish them in article text. Always confirm the current price, specification, and availability on the retailer page before you buy.
Corrections
We correct errors rather than quietly deleting them. When a correction changes the substance of an article, we update the article, change the last updated date, and note what was corrected.
