Massage Guns: a quick buyer's checklist

  1. Amplitude. Measured in millimeters, it is the maker's stated stroke length. Longer strokes feel different from short ones.
  2. Stall force. A manufacturer-rated figure, often published without a method, so compare across brands with care.
  3. Speed settings. Check the range and number of levels in the specification.
  4. Battery and noise. The listing gives battery life and sometimes a decibel claim. Regard both as stated by the brand.
  5. Attachments. Note which heads are included and what the maker says each is for.
  6. Warranty. Check the stated length and whether the battery is covered, since it ages first.

Keep the device off the neck, spine and major arteries, and away from injuries, as the manufacturer directs. Our massage gun safety page explains more. Brands publish stall force and amplitude with very little explanation, so two guns can look alike on paper and feel different in use. We compare the stated figures side by side, flag the ones with no method behind them, and keep the focus on build, battery and attachments. Compare two or three models on those points, and ask the seller when a figure is missing from the listing.
