Ice Bath Pillow vs Ice Bath Mat: Which One Should You Buy?

ice bath pillow vs ice bath mat: what each one does

A pillow hangs on the tub wall on suction cups and cushions the head, neck, shoulders and back. The pillows below use 4, 6 or 7 suction cups, and all four list a hook or hanging point for drying. A mat, by contrast, lies flat where feet rest, so it cannot cushion the neck or shoulders. That split decides the purchase: support for the upper body points to a pillow, while footing points to a mat.

Neither accessory replaces the other. A soak setup can include both, with the pillow on the wall and the mat underfoot, but buyers who only want upper body support need only the pillow.

What to compare in a bath pillow

Suction cup count deserves a check: more cups spread the hold across the tub wall, and the counts here run from 4 to 7. Mesh matters as well, since 4D air mesh lets water and air pass through for quick drying on all four pillows. Size matters too, because a pillow that is too wide for a small tub crowds the soak; sizes here run from 13.8 by 13.3 inches to 17.9 by 17.9 inches. Care instructions close the list, since machine wash care differs across these listings and two listings contradict themselves on washing.

Bath pillows worth hanging

These are scored on the Chill Score, which weighs performance, build, value, safety certifications and warranty. Pillows carry no safety listing, so all four score 0 for safety. Only the SetSail pillow states a 12-month after-sales service term.

Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.

Setting up a bath pillow

• Press every cup flat. Suction cups grip smooth tub walls; press each cup flat against the wall before leaning back.
• Hang the pillow after the soak. Each pillow here lists a hook, so hang it on a towel rack or shower rod to dry.
• Follow the care label. Machine wash care differs here, and the Everlasting and RUVINCE listings contradict themselves on washing, so check the label before washing.
• Check the size against the tub. Pillow sizes here run from 13.8 by 13.3 inches to 17.9 by 17.9 inches, so measure the wall space before ordering.

Common mistakes

• Buying a mat when the need is head and neck support, or a pillow when the need is footing.
• Assuming every pillow fits every tub without checking the listed size.
• Ignoring a care contradiction and washing a pillow the wrong way.
• Treating suction cup counts as a grip promise on textured walls, where cups may not hold.

Common questions

Should I buy an ice bath pillow or an ice bath mat?

Buy a pillow for head, neck and back support against the tub wall. Buy a mat for footing inside the tub. The two accessories serve different spots, so the need decides: upper body support points to a pillow, footing points to a mat. No mat listing is included in the gear section below, which covers pillows only.

How many suction cups do these pillows have?

Counts run from 4 to 7. The Everlasting pillow lists 4 non-slip cups, the RUVINCE and SetSail pillows list 6 cups each, and the AmazeFan pillow lists 7 large stitched-in cups. More cups spread the hold across the tub wall.

Are these pillows machine washable?

Machine wash care differs across the listings. The AmazeFan pillow is machine washable and includes a mesh wash bag, and the SetSail pillow states machine wash care. The RUVINCE care instructions list both hand wash and machine wash, while the Everlasting title says machine washable but its care instructions say hand wash with cold water. Check the care label before washing.

What size are these bath pillows?

The Everlasting pillow measures 13.8 by 13.3 inches, the AmazeFan pillow measures 14.76 by 12.6 inches, the RUVINCE pillow measures 17.3 by 17 inches, and the SetSail pillow measures 17.9 by 17.9 inches. Weights run from 0.39 kg on the SetSail pillow to 0.52 kg on the AmazeFan pillow, with no weight stated for the Everlasting pillow.

Do any of these pillows state a warranty?

Only the SetSail pillow states a term: 12-month after-sales service under Warranty And Support. The AmazeFan, RUVINCE and Everlasting listings state no warranty term. A support promise is not the same as a full warranty, so read the listing wording before relying on it.
