Between $1,000 and $2,000 a cold plunge splits two ways. You can buy a complete system with a 1 HP class chiller on an insulated soft tub, or a rigid rotomolded tub that will outlast it, usually without a chiller. This roundup covers both, three of each.
Under $1,000, see our tub and chiller kit roundup. Our cold plunge tub roundup and chiller roundup cover each part on its own.
This article is informational and is not medical advice. Cold water immersion causes a gasp reflex and a spike in heart rate and blood pressure. Never plunge alone, and speak to a clinician first if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure. Read our cold plunge safety guide and Medical Disclaimer.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| BEYOND MARINA | Insulated inflatable | 1 HP, cools and heats | Up to 187 gal | 1 year |
| 1stplunge | Insulated inflatable | 1 HP | 216 gal | 1 year, limited |
| JUGRFIT | Insulated drop stitch | Rated to 37 degrees F | 90 gal | Not stated |
| Ice Cap | Rotomolded vertical | None, ports only | 100 gal | Limited lifetime |

| Ice Barrel 300 | Insulated barrel | None, ports only | 77 gal | Not stated |
A rigid tub without a chiller is still an ice tub. Adding a chiller later typically costs several hundred dollars more, and our chiller roundup covers the options.
Cooling capacity is not power draw
Two listings here quote watts: the JUGRFIT 1050W and the BEYOND MARINA 2405W cooling and 3600W heating. Those figures describe how much heat the chiller moves, not how much electricity it uses. A chiller’s electrical draw is usually a fraction of its cooling capacity, and none of these listings states it. Ask the seller for the rated input power before you estimate a running cost, then use our running cost guide.
Score notes
The Chill Score weighs performance 35, build 25, value 25, safety certifications 10 where it applies and warranty 5. For cold plunges, performance means chiller capacity, rated temperature and stated cool down time.
| Product | Chill Score | Perf. | Build | Value | Safety | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BEYOND MARINA 1 HP | 50 | 23 | 9 | 11 | 0 | 7 |
| 1stplunge 1 HP, 216 gal | 48 | 21 | 6 | 14 | 0 | 7 |
| JUGRFIT 90 gal | 46 | 21 | 13 | 12 | 0 | 0 |
| Ice Cap vertical | 39 | 13 | 7 | 9 | 0 | 10 |
| ICECON rotomolded | 32 | 13 | 9 | 10 | 0 | 0 |
| Ice Barrel 300 | 31 | 12 | 10 | 9 | 0 | 0 |
The complete systems lead because the chiller is what makes daily use practical. The JUGRFIT states no warranty term. Among the rigid tubs, the Ice Cap is the only one with a warranty, a limited lifetime one.
Electrical safety
None of the chillers here states a UL, ETL or CSA listing. A chiller runs on mains power beside water: use a GFCI protected outlet, keep the unit and connections off the ground, and never use an extension cord.
Who should not buy one
Speak to a clinician first if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, Raynaud’s, or are pregnant. Never plunge alone, enter slowly, and keep sessions short. Our safety guide covers cold shock and afterdrop.
Common questions
Rigid or inflatable?
Rigid rotomolded tubs do not puncture and hold cold well. Insulated inflatables are lighter, cheaper to ship and easier to store. The systems in this band all use soft tubs.
Is 1 HP enough?
For 100 to 200 gallons, 1 HP is generous. It matters most outdoors in warm weather.
Chiller capacity, temperature and cool down figures are manufacturer rated.
