A red light therapy wand is a handheld device you hold over one spot at a time. The word covers two quite different products. Body wands use red and near infrared diodes aimed at a knee, shoulder or back. Face wands are small beauty tools that add warmth, vibration or a mild current to an LED head. We cover both, and say which is which.
This roundup scores six wands sold on Amazon on what each listing states. For larger areas, see our targeted red light devices and full body panels. Listings were collected 3 October 2026.
This article is informational and is not medical advice. Never shine a wand toward your eyes. If you have a light sensitive condition, take medication that increases light sensitivity, have a history of skin cancer, or are pregnant, speak to a clinician first. See our Medical Disclaimer.

What each wand states
| Wand | Use | Wavelengths | Levels and timer | Glasses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Morfone BYK-108A | Body | 650, 808nm | 4 levels, 5 to 20 min | Named in listing |

| Holsn 650/808 | Body | 650, 808nm | 4 levels, 5 to 20 min | In photos only |

| Solawave 4-in-1 | Face | 630nm | 3 min per area | Not stated |
| YZYOE S5 3H | Small spots | 630, 660, 850nm | 5 min auto stop | Not stated |
All figures are manufacturer stated. No wand here gives an irradiance figure, so power levels are relative to each device and cannot be compared across brands. See wavelengths explained and irradiance explained.
The infrared you cannot see
Every body wand here uses near infrared light at 808nm or above. That light is invisible, or nearly so, which means your eyes do not squint or blink at it the way they do at bright red light. A wand that looks dim may still be putting out infrared. Point it away from your face and other people’s, and wear the glasses if your wand includes them. Morfone names glasses in its listing text. ANHOM, Holsn and DUGSDG show glasses in their product photos but do not list them in the text we collected, so confirm with the seller.
What 19 listings state
We read 19 wand listings. Fewer than half, 9, state their wavelengths in nanometers. Many listings that call themselves red light wands are face massagers with seven LED colors and no wavelength figures, so we left them out. Only 1 states a warranty term, none states an electrical safety listing, and the one listing that claims FDA clearance gives no 510(k) number. See how FDA clearance works for red light devices.
Score notes
The Chill Score weighs performance 35, build 25, value 25, safety certifications 10 where it applies and warranty 5. Here, performance covers stated wavelengths and diode counts, power levels, timers and included eye protection. No wand states an electrical safety listing, so all score zero there.
| Product | Chill Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Morfone BYK-108A | 9.4 | 29 | 20 | 20 | 0 | 0 |
| ANHOM 660/808 | 9.4 | 28 | 20 | 21 | 0 | 0 |
| Holsn 650/808 | 9.4 | 28 | 20 | 20 | 0 | 0 |
| DUGSDG W-RLT1 | 9.4 | 27 | 19 | 21 | 0 | 0 |
| Solawave 4-in-1 | 9.4 | 27 | 20 | 19 | 0 | 0 |
| YZYOE S5 3H | 9.4 | 24 | 18 | 22 | 0 | 1 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.
Morfone and ANHOM share the top score. Morfone states the most, including glasses in the box; ANHOM has the widest timer for less. Solawave is the choice for a face routine.
Who should not buy one
If you want to treat a condition such as arthritis, a wound or nerve pain, see a clinician. None of these listings gives a cleared use you can verify.
If you want to cover your whole back or both legs, a wand is slow. A panel or belt covers more at once. See our red light therapy belts.
Common questions
How close should I hold a wand?
Follow the manual. Output falls quickly with distance, which is why most body wands are held close to or on the skin.
Can I use a body wand on my face?
Not near the eyes. Body wands put out invisible infrared. Wear the glasses if your wand comes with them.
What is galvanic current?
A mild electrical current used in some face tools, usually with a conductive serum. People with pacemakers or implanted devices should ask a doctor before using one.
