A sauna light has to survive heat and moisture that would ruin an ordinary fixture. The air near a sauna ceiling can be well over 180°F, and steam from the stones gets into anything that is not sealed. Many products sold as sauna lights are really outdoor bulkhead lights, so the first thing to look for is a stated temperature rating.
This roundup scores six lights and accessories sold on Amazon on what each listing states. Listings were collected 4 October 2026.
This article is informational and is not electrical or medical advice. Wiring a light inside a sauna should be done by a licensed electrician to your local code and the sauna maker’s instructions. See our Medical Disclaimer.

We read 20 sauna light listings. Seven state a warranty and 3 name a safety listing. Only two, both LED strips, state a temperature rating: 176°F and 212°F. Both are below the air temperature near the ceiling of a hot traditional sauna. We left those two strips out because their listed prices, under two dollars for a 16 foot strip, did not look like real offers.
Where to put the light
Heat rises, so the ceiling is the hottest spot in a sauna. Lights are often mounted low on a wall, behind a backrest, or under a bench, where it is cooler. Keep them well away from the heater and out of the path of water thrown on the stones. Follow your sauna or heater manual if it says where lights may go.
Low voltage strips and bars keep mains power outside the hot room, with the power supply mounted outside or in a cooler spot. A 120 volt bulkhead puts mains wiring inside the sauna and should be installed by an electrician.
Score notes
The Chill Score weighs performance 35, build 25, value 25, safety certifications 10 where it applies and warranty 5. Here, performance covers whether the light is built and rated for sauna heat, and how it is powered. A claimed UL or ETL listing without a file number earns partial safety credit.
| Product | Chill Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HUUM OVO | 9.5 | 28 | 22 | 16 | 0 | 3 |
| NAXTTII Bulkhead | 9.4 | 22 | 20 | 21 | 3 | 2 |
| Faymart 8in LED | 9.4 | 23 | 20 | 20 | 3 | 0 |
| Almost Heaven Bar | 9.4 | 27 | 20 | 20 | 0 | 0 |
| Pandery COB Strip | 9.3 | 23 | 19 | 20 | 0 | 0 |
| Sauna Place Cedar | 9.3 | 22 | 21 | 19 | 0 | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.
HUUM’s OVO leads as the only purpose built light from a sauna maker with a warranty. NAXTTII and Faymart score on their safety listings, but both are outdoor fixtures without a stated heat rating, which held their performance scores down.
Who should not buy one
If your sauna came with a light, check whether the maker sells a replacement before buying a generic one. If your sauna is infrared, the cabin is cooler and lighting is less demanding, but follow the cabin maker’s instructions all the same.
For other accessories, see sauna thermometers and sauna buckets and ladles. For wiring basics, see sauna electrical requirements.
Common questions
Can I use an ordinary LED strip in a sauna?
Not unless it states a temperature rating above what your sauna reaches where you mount it. Most strips do not state one.
Do I need a vapor proof fixture?
In a traditional sauna where you throw water on the stones, yes, a sealed fixture is the norm. Check the fixture’s rating for damp and wet locations.
What color temperature works best?
Most sauna lights are warm, around 2700K to 3000K. That is a matter of taste; brightness and heat rating matter more.
